The developer of this multi-residential building in Halifax ditched wood joists for TotalJoist, the cold-formed steel joist that cuts bulkheads and is fast and easy to install.
When finished, 214 Herring Cove Road in Halifax will be 33,000 square feet and have three storeys with TotalJoists.
TotalJoist supplied 11.875” joists for spaces within the units and 9.5” joists in the corridor to allow the HVAC to be contained in the ceiling. In the corridor, the mechanical is being run with a dropped ceiling below the shallow TotalJoists.
The crew doing the joist installation are wood framers and didn’t need special training or tools to complete the job, while our project management team has been helping along the way.
