The original floor system that was chosen for this five-storey hotel required extensive shoring for multiple levels, hindering the other trades from completing their aspects of the project in a timely manner (framing, drywall, plumbing, electrical). The footings were almost complete when the general contractor decided to use TotalJoist.
Using Building Information Modelling, TotalJoist’s team was able to adjust the wall heights and cross sections for the general contractor, then stamp the plans valid for the state of Missouri which helped the building department.
Combined with ICF construction methods, the hotel is rated a non-combustible type II construction that will reduce energy and insurance costs. After the roof was completed, the insurance company came in and re-inspected the property. They increased the property value by $1,000,000!
